Chapter 6

Kabir's eyes narrowed as he watched Maya laugh and chat with Arjun in the cafeteria. Arjun was being his usual charming self, flashing his famous smile and making Maya giggle. Kabir's gaze lingered on Maya's face, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

A flicker of irritation sparked within Kabir. He didn't like the way Arjun was flirting with Maya, his friend's intentions seeming suddenly transparent. Kabir's eyes locked onto Arjun's, a silent warning flashing between them.

Kabir's presence seemed to darken the atmosphere, and Arjun's smile faltered for a moment before he continued talking to Maya. Kabir's eyes never left Arjun's face, his expression unreadable. Maya, oblivious to the tension, continued chatting, unaware of the silent exchange between the two friends.

Kabir's voice was firm as he called Maya into his cabin. "Miss Maya, this is an office, not a talking center. Do your work," he said sternly, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Maya felt a shiver run down her spine as she entered the cabin, Kabir's gaze piercing. He handed her a stack of files, his expression unyielding. "I've assigned you some additional tasks. I expect them to be completed by the end of the day."

Maya's eyes widened slightly as she took the files, feeling a surge of frustration. She nodded curtly, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, sir."

As the office emptied and the lights dimmed, Maya remained hunched over her desk, typing away on her computer. Kabir watched her from the shadows of his cabin, a smirk playing on his lips. He seemed to be enjoying the sight of Maya working late, her brow furrowed in concentration.

The fluorescent lights overhead cast a pale glow on Maya's face, highlighting her fatigue. Kabir's eyes lingered on her, his expression unreadable. He seemed to be savoring the moment, perhaps relishing the fact that Maya was still stuck at work, while others had long gone home.

As Maya finally looked up, stretching her tired muscles, Kabir's smirk grew wider. He leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving Maya's face, even as she began to gather her belongings, unaware of being watched.

Kabir emerged from his cabin, files in hand, and walked towards Maya's desk. "Umm...Maya, take these," he said, dropping the files onto her already cluttered workspace. "I want these reports done by tomorrow."

Maya looked up, her eyes widening in dismay as she gazed at the thick stack of papers. "Tomorrow, sir?" she asked, trying to hide her incredulity.

Kabir's expression remained firm. "Yes, tomorrow. I expect nothing but perfection." With that, he turned and walked back to his cabin, leaving Maya to tackle the additional workload.
