Chapter 4

Maya's pov

As I sat in my desk, surrounded by papers and design sketches, deeply engrossed in my work. It was a lazy Sunday, and i was determined to meet the deadline for Sushmita's wedding jewelry designs.

Just as I was getting into the zone, my phone rang. I glanced at the screen and saw Kabir's name flashing. I hesitated for a moment before answering.

"Hello?" I said, my voice neutral.

"Maya, I need to see you," Kabir said, his voice low and smooth. "Can you come to Café Rose at 3 pm?"

I raised an eyebrow, surprised by the sudden request. "What's this about, sir?" I asked, trying to sound professional.

Kabir's voice took on a hint of amusement. "Let's just say I have some... faith in your abilities. I'm trusting you for the designs, Maya. Don't make me disappoint myself in you."

I felt a flutter in her chest at his words. I was both intrigued and intimidated by Kabir's trust. "I'll be there, sir," I said, my voice firm.

Kabir's voice was low and husky. "Good. I'll see you at 3 pm, Maya."

I nodded, even though he couldn't see me . "Yes, sir. I'll be there."

As I hung up, I couldn't help but wonder what kabir wanted to discuss. I felt a sense of excitement and nervousness, mixed with a determination to prove myself.

I went to the cafe rose, I was just wearing a normal outfit like jeans and a blue and white strips shirt...

Kabir's voice was firm as he leaned forward, his eyes locked on mine. "Maya, I just got off the phone with Mr. Raj, and he's expecting the designs for Sushmita's wedding jewelry by next week."

I nodded, my mind already racing with the deadline. "Yes, sir. I'm working on it."

Kabir's expression turned serious. "Make sure you're not late with the designs, Maya. Mr. Raj is counting on us to deliver something exceptional. And remember, this is a professional project, so ensure that everything meets the highest standards."

I nodded, feeling a surge of determination. "Don't worry, sir. I'll get it done. I'll make sure the designs are perfect and delivered on time."

Kabir's eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze piercing. "See that you do. I expect nothing but perfection from you on this project."

I felt a sense of resolve wash over me. I was determined to prove myself d deliver the best designs possible. "I won't let you down, sir," she said, her voice confident.

Author's pov

Kabir sat at his desk, his mind consumed by thoughts of Maya. He couldn't understand why she seemed to excel in every aspect of her work, why she was so effortlessly perfect. The more he thought about it, the more it grated on him.

"Why the hell is she perfect, then me?" Kabir muttered to himself, his frustration simmering. "No one is better than me. Maya Sehgal, I'll make your life hell."

With a sudden surge of determination, Kabir picked up the phone and dialed Maya's extension. When she answered, his voice was curt. "Maya, bring me a black coffee without sugar."

Maya's response was immediate. "I'm not your servant."

Kabir's smile was cold and calculated. "Well, I'm the one who's paying you."

He leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he waited for Maya's reaction. He was ready to take her down a peg, to show her who was boss. But little did he know, Maya was not one to back down easily.

Maya walked to the cafeteria, a sly smile spreading across her face as she thought about Kabir's orders. She poured a cup of black coffee and added two spoons of sugar, stirring it well. She couldn't resist the opportunity to play a little trick on him.

As she entered Kabir's cabin, she wore an innocent expression, unaware that Kabir's best friend, Arjun, was sitting across from him. Arjun's eyes lit up as he saw Maya, and he couldn't help but notice the way she seemed to glow with confidence.

Kabir took a sip of the coffee, and his face contorted in disgust. "What the...?!" he spluttered, spitting out the coffee. "How many times do I have to tell you? NO SUGAR!"

Maya's eyes widened in mock innocence. "I'm so sorry, sir. I must have misunderstood."

Kabir's temper flared, his face reddening. "Misunderstood? MISUNDERSTOOD?! You did this on purpose, didn't you?"

Arjun watched the exchange with interest, a small smile playing on his lips. He had always known Kabir to be a bit of a control freak, but Maya seemed to bring out a different side of him.

Kabir's anger was palpable, and Maya took a step back, her eyes sparkling with amusement. She knew she had pushed him to his limits, and now it was time to see how far he would go.
